This is a vibrant and energetic service, attended by adults and children who speak the Chin dialect found in many parts of Myanmar. Worship leadership on any Sunday is shared by many of the members.
Chin Burmese Worship at First Presbyterian is communal, and members of all ages play roles in leading and serving the congregation during services.
Everyone is Welcome!
Anyone is welcome to attend. Even those who may not speak the language will be inspired and come away with the sense that God is definitely present and active through the Spirit in the lives of this gathered community.
Chin Burmese Worship Service
The sermon is offered by Abraham PaCawi or another member of this fellowship. Music reflects both the strong heritage of the Chin tradition and a clear Western influence as a result of past missionary presence in Burma.
The Chin Community
Starting with the arrival of Vietnamese refugees in the 1970’s, FPC has helped local resettlement agencies resettle refugees from many different countries. In 2007, many Refugees from Burma were brought here by Catholic Charities. The largest group of refugees from Burma are Chin and they have their roots in the Christian Faith. Many of the Chin are members of FPC.
