Middle schoolers’ lives are full of change. Middle school looks and sounds different than elementary school. A child’s body and interests are changing. Perhaps beliefs are changing, too. This is all part of God’s plan for children and their lives, and God is present in the midst of all these changes. Youth are invited to participate in any of our middle school ministries, join with other middle schoolers and adult leaders and strive to better understand the changes they are experiencing and the love of God that never changes. Our middle schoolers attend more than 20 different school districts throughout the Lehigh Valley and our youth ministry does not consider those “boundaries” to be obstacles to community.
Middle School Church School classes for 6th through 8th grades meet every Sunday morning (except for the Sunday between Christmas and New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday) throughout the school year from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Classes are designed to foster a fun approach to learning the stories in the Bible and the foundations of our Christian faith tradition while building relationships among the members of the class.
MIDDLE SCHOOL FELLOWSHIP
All 6th-8th graders are invited to join us on Sundays during the school year from 6:15-8:00 p.m. for dinner, recreation, discussion, service, worship and fellowship.
The Youth Choir is open to all youth, Grades 6 – 12 and rehearsals are held Sunday evenings during the school year from 5:00 – 6:15 p.m. to prepare anthems for worship about once a month. This choir prepares additional anthems for Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday, and sometimes for Advent and Lenten special music. The Choir takes a goodwill tour out-of-state each spring and gives the gift of music to residents at nursing homes, at senior living centers, at church services, and sometimes at sporting events or theme parks. Director: Laura Rabenold
The Youth Handbell Choir meets weekly on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. It is open to all youth in grades 6-12. Music reading skills is not a requirement and is taught from the first rehearsal. The Youth Handbell Choir rings in traditional and alternative worship roughly 6-8 times per church year. The Youth Handbell Choir is directed by Mr. John Richardson.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Youth are invited to mentor and guide children and tweens who participate in our annual Vacation Bible School, which takes place during the summer months. The weeklong event, which uses a particular theme for the week, helps participants to explore the Bible through entertaining hands on activities and fellowship within their age group as well as the larger group.
