The mission of the Mission Leadership Team is to guide and empower the congregation to be disciples of Jesus in our worship, in our service to others and in our relationships with our community and the world.
How the Mission Leadership Team and Sub-teams Work:
Organizationally, representatives from our five Mission Teams (sometimes called Mission Sub-teams) meet monthly as the Mission Leadership Team, along with MLT Co-chairs Jen Staib and John Ford and Director of Mission Christopher Cocca. The monthly MLT meeting is a time of fellowship, discussion, encouragement, discernment, and support. Each team presents monthly reports and updates, and larger initiatives are coordinated. Decisions effecting Mission-wide concerns are made, and implications for church life in general are discussed. Chris Cocca is our liaison to Staff, our advocate at the Staff level, and the Staff presence on MLT and at many team meetings. He also represents FPCA at a staff level to mission partners in Allentown and the wider Lehigh Valley, and he co-convenes
Beeritualty at the Allentown Brew Works along with FPCA's Lead Pastor Tony Sundermeier.
As co-chairs of the MLT, Jen and John lead MLT meetings and provide organizational leadership and meet with Chris on a regular basis. They also serve on respective Mission Teams.
Our Mission Sub-teams lead our mission work through dedicated leadership and service. Their representation at the MLT in response to God's call to lead the wider church in missional formation is what makes great mission work happen at an organization level. They are servant leaders modeling the reality that everything we do is mission, and that mission is for everyone.
