Inquirer’s Class – Room 220

This class is for newcomers and/or persons considering membership in our congregation. Inquirer’s classes are intended not only to impart information about the Presbyterian Church (USA), but also – and just as importantly – to build friendships among the people who participate. Topics to be covered include how Presbyterians view Scripture, why we worship as we do, how our church’s form of government works, and how we express our faith as Presbyterian Christians. One session will feature a tour of the church building, while another includes an opportunity to meet the Pastoral, Education, and Music Staff, and introduces the class to the myriad occasions for worship, nurture, fellowship, and service at First Presbyterian. Contact:  Carol Kelly, Pastoral and Membership Support Specialist, for further information.

Bible Discovery – Room 124

This month, we will conclude our study of the prophets with a discussion of the book of Malachi. Then, as we begin a new year, we will take up Genesis, the "book of beginnings," exploring its accounts of the creation of the world and of God's calling Abraham and Sarah to be the father and mother of a new people, Israel. In the process, we'll think about what "new things" God may be calling us to do and be in this new year. Ralph DelAguila, John Hayes, Sheila Clever, Thrygve Meeker, Jim Kane, Gloria McGilloway

Trexler Bible Class – Witherspoon Room

During the Christmas season, we sang that "Isaiah 'twas foretold it," as we looked forward to the coming of Jesus into the world. What was it that Isaiah foretold, and how did Jesus himself view his mission as a fulfillment and extension of Isaiah's oracles about the "Servant of God"? From welcoming the baby in the manger, we move to thinking about what it meant for Jesus to assume his vocation as God's Son, the Word made flesh, and what it means to follow him today. Various Teachers

Bible Study: Exploring the New Testament – Room 217

This year, the class will engage in a combined, harmonized study of the four gospels, discussing ways in which their varied perpectives enrich our knowledge of the person and work of Christ. If you've been meaning to read the Bible and could benefit from the insight and encouragement of others to keep you on track, this is the class for you. Newcomers are welcome! Contact: Mike Loomis

Presby Perk – Commons

Join us Sunday mornings in the Commons for Coffee House style discussions. Pam Weiss leads us in looking at issues that directly affect how we understand ourselves as Christians, especially as they relate to how we live our daily lives. What guides the decisions we make? How do we know if we are really doing what God wants us to do? This informal setting offers an opportunity to discuss the questions you have always wondered about, and to share quality time with friends over a cup of coffee or tea.
